Two years ago today on a Thanksgiving Morning my son Andres was born! He's developed into quite a little boy~sweet, funny, smart and so cute if I do say so myself. Today we're celebrating with some family and his official party will be next weekend when we'll (as my husband likes to say) sugar-it-up! His birth seems soo long ago that some of the details are blurry now (the back labor, lack of modestly, dropping him during his first bath..umm actually its good that I don't remember). At the same time his birth seems like it just happened last week !
Happy Birthday Doo-ba-Doo! We are so lucky to have you:)
Here are two of my latest dolls..they're not quite finished yet but should be up in the shop by late Sunday. I have two more in the works but I dont know when they'll be ready. Next week I wont be making any dolls so I can plan for the birthday party, clean (and I mean C-L-E-A-N as in A-J-A-X) this house, work on Christmas cards and Christmas presents on top of taking care of my son full time. (Thanks to my husband Mark who had the week off and helped out :) ) Have a fun and safe weekend!

I don't have much to post today. I had hoped to have several new dolls to show by now but I've been sick and that can sure hamper getting things done...I feel like a slacker! I revamped one of my Dolls "Sophie" giving her new clothes and a little hair coloring. I managed to get create one new doll (unnamed right now) who stands about a foot tall. Both should be up in my shop by noon today. Off to mail "Maura" to Vanessa at A Fanciful Twist in Arizona and get some errands done. I'm going to aim for two or three new dolls by Friday. I'll have my dolls in the Storque showcase that day and want some new stuff to show! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone!
My favorite day of the week has usually been Thursday. It represents anticipation and an easy down hill ride towards the weekend. Today ,however, had me wondering if I should've bothered getting up..ever have days like that? You're sick, you didnt sleep and then you spill your $5 Starbucks drink (triple shot) right next to and under your laptop and it ruins the left speaker and because you yanked your computer away from the desk, the internet connection is no longer working. While on the phone with your DSL provider in India you go into a coughing fit so bad you start hyperventilating and have to hang up the phone on Mr. Qwest guy. And while your gagging and coughing you realize that the other phone upstairs by the modem is still on and he can probably hear you cursing in between gasps for air..Ever have a morning like that? That's been my day up till noon..so far! I shouldn't complain..some people actually have it bad out there so I'm fortunate actually..it's all a matter of perspective!
Well I have a new doll ready. I promise not to complain too much more but she was difficult to make. She turned out nothing like what I had in mind, in fact it was as if she had her own determined personality and refused to cooperate until I gave in to what she wanted to look like. I havent decided if she'll be named Isolde or Persephone..maybe Ramona? Whoever she is she's the largest doll I've ever made. She's 21.5" tall and is jointed at the elbows and knees. When I started making dolls three years ago they averaged about 5" tall. I thought I was going large with my new ones on Etsy last month that were about 10". Now I'm up to 22" inches almost and I love working with that size. Problem is the price will have to reflect that. I think I'll go back and forth on both sizes and maybe do some 5" dolls.
She'll be in the shop this afternoon~ Click here for more pics of her
Here is a photo showing the range of sizes of my dolls. The doll on Kiki's lap was the first one I ever made about three years ago. She's almost 5", Kiki is approx 18", the new Girl is 21.5" and Eva on her lap is almost 10 "
p.s...I was born on a Thursday..surprise surprise :)
I have been wanting to rent one of my fav. movies lately..I need to buy this one..I love it! Its Jean Cocteau's "Beauty and the Beast" from the 1940's..a must next time you hit your local indie rental place.(Cocteau is pictured down below ,in the Kiki entry, holding the frame) Any of his films are worth seeing..trippy and beautifully shot.
