Shop Update Sneak Peeks~ Pt. 2

Rush rush, rush! I'm dropping in quickly to give you a peek of the second half of my dolls that will be going into my shop tomorrow. These "Lady Birds" started out as an extension of my debutantes but I decided to add some masks and call it a party! I had a lot of fun making bird masks for them and will continue to do some more in the future along with printed messages on clothes.I have so many ideas and so little time..so little I haven't named them yet.
..Off to feed my son, change diapers (that needs to be taken care of NOW) and then photograph the dolls. I will be putting these dolls up, along with the Valentine dolls, beginning at 10 am (Pacific) Wednesday and throughout the morning/early afternoon! Have a wonderful Tuesday:)

My two year old Andres was standing next to me when this photo was taken saying "Say Cheese Dollies"! He's a great "assistant" and fortunately he works for food..

Shop Update Sneak Peeks~ Pt. 1

Well, as promised I have a few new dolls to show. Five to show today and six I'll be showing tomorrow! They will all be going up in my shop this Wednesday. The five shown here are my versions of "Valentines" dolls. No hearts or anything that pertains only to that holiday. However on each silk dress is printed one of two (partial) passages from Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet, one of my favorite books. The quotes are beautiful and timeless and I wanted my dolls to reflect that too, so I kept the colors and dresses simple ( My husband thinks they look like brides and I think they look like they practice Santeria but neither happens to be the case). I have yet to name them so while I'm coming up with those details, I'll leave you with some images..

On marriage:
"..Love one another but make not a bond of love:

Happy Thursday (my favorite day of the week)! I have a few dolls that are almost ready to go, but instead of rushing to get everything done for an update tomorrow, I'm pushing the date back to next Wednesday.I'll be posting some images starting Monday and some on Tuesday:)

A little something my Aunt sent called "Sixty Years of Marriage"..maybe you can relate :)

A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years. They had shared everything. They had talked about everything. They had kept no secrets from each other except that the little old woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet that she had cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about.

For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but one day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said she would not recover.

In trying to sort out their affairs, the little old man took down the shoe box and took it to his wife's bedside.

She agreed that it was time that he should know what was in the box. When he opened it, he found two crocheted dolls and a stack of money totaling $95,000.

He asked her about the contents.

'When we were to be married,' she said, 'my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that if I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doll.'

The little old man was so moved; he had to fight back tears. Only two precious dolls were in the box. She had only been angry with him two times in all those years of living and loving. He almost burst with happiness.

'Honey,' he said, 'that explains the doll, but what about all of this money?
Where did it come from?'

'Oh,' she said, 'that's the money I made from selling the dolls.'
