Up and Away to the Mad Hatter's Tea Party we go!

Dear Miss Vanessa~

We just received the invitation to your Mad Hatter's party! Unfortunately Ms.Christine cannot attend as it happens to be fall on the same day as her husband's birthday and their wedding anniversary. However she is sending the four of us as representatives of Du Buh Du Designs on her behalf. Actually there will be five of us in attendance if you include King Dante who will be joining with us for part of the trip and rejoining us again at the party!

We look forward to meeting all of the other exciting guests you've invited and hope to maybe visit with the other Du Buh Du girls who reside at the Valencia Estate. And don't worry, we know your house will be full of weekend guests so we've booked a few rooms at Miraval until Monday. We will taking our own form of transportation as driving would simply take too long and we'd rather avoid the airport these days. We'll be leaving Thursday afternoon and should arrive by midmorning Saturday. See you soon!

P.S. Ms. Christine just had a giveaway for one of her dolls this week and even though she mentioned it would be awhile before she had another, she wanted to let everyone at the party know that she is having a small,teeny tiny give away  for "Dante" (he's about 4" tall or so). They don't need to have a blog or be a participant in the Mad Hatter Party festivities. All they need to do is leave a comment,interesting cat names, etc. She will pick the winner Tuesday July 1st at noon!!

P.S.S. These four new dolls will not be available for sale (not yet anyhow) but not to worry I will be making more of them soon!

Thanks to Mark for helping me out with the "on location" photo shoots and by making that fabulous hot air balloon ( I only helped with the decoration)! See why I married him? I can order up a plane, a train or an automobile and he'll construct one. Not that I actually have a use for any of those. But you know what I mean :)

Well..Who Won The Doll Giveaway?

Congrats to Jhoanna over at One Red Robin (sorry about the spelling above) from Melbourne, Australia! She won first dibs on one of the dolls of her choice from this shop update (or a gift certificate to my Etsy shop). I'll post which doll she picks and post it here before Tuesday at Noon Pacific **. Thank you to all who participated in the Doll Giveaway and gave me great name suggestions and foreign phrases and to those who have bought the one hundred dolls that I have sold on Etsy since joining last Fall.I am so lucky to get to do something I love and share it with you!

 I look forward to getting back to my regular blogging:) Now it's back to cleaning my studio and coming up with something for Vanessa's Tea/Costume Party next Saturday (which happens to be Mark's birthday and our Wedding Anniversary)! See you Tuesday:)

I'm actually ahead of schedule for once,which is a good thing as I have a thousand things to get accomplished this weekend, so I'm posting these mermaids today. Again I'm happy with how these turned out. I went back to using a neutral color for these ladies as they just seemed like Greek goddesses/starlets who didn't need a lot of color with all of that shine and glitter. The sea horse masks are cinched down and aren't removable but stay in place nicely without falling over. This was something I was having problems with while making the Calliope and Seraphina a few months ago. The mermaids are sealed with a matte finish that I've used on all of my new dolls, however I did not seal their hair, head pieces or masks as they are coated in tiny glitter so a tiny bit may come off in shipping but will not affect the look of the dolls at all. The silk ribbons that are tied around each mask have the following printed on them: 

Since once I sat upon a promontory, and heard a mermaid on a dolphin's back uttering such dulcet and harmonious breath that the rude sea grew civil at her song and certain stars shot madly from their spheres, to hear the sea-maid's music..
