As promised here are a few sneak peeks of the eight dolls that will be available in my EtsyShop this Friday morning! I spent a little more time on their faces and sewed on some tiny beads to some of the dresses~basically I paid just a tad more attention to detail and I'm thrilled with how they turned out. The Louise Brooks doll was one I had planned on making last fall after finishing Kikiand just hadn't had a chance to create her.
So here she is along with other dolls inspired by the 1920's, flappers, Paris, etc.(another Kiki might be in the works but not as tall as the original). I say inspired because I am not an expert (purist) at the clothing from that era and my dolls aren't meant to be exact replicas of women of that time period. In fact my dolls tend to be a mix of the modern and classic. And I have a bride doll, Carmella~I plan to make one for each season and this one is a late summer bride.Off to get some work done~ see you soon! Oh and I will be adding additional photos of these ladies on my Flickrsite tomorrow.
I'm quite pleased with how the new dolls are turning out so far~it's just been a crazy week and I need to focus on finishing these up:) This will be a mini update with approx. eight dolls available. For those waiting for the girls with the cats, those will be part of the next update and the dolls with the crowns may or may not be available until September. And of course I'll be posting sneak peeks next week!
And I'll leave you with a short clip of Louise Brooks who inspired the doll above..See you soon!
Every so often I come across an artist that blows my socks off (plus a hundred other cliches). Their art makes me want to drop what I'm doing and beg to study as an apprentice under their direction. While toying with the idea of mixing a couple of mediums (for an upcoming show) I stumbled across the super talented Chris Sickels and his work again. His art and images made me excited about the possibilities of working in 3D and combining it with photography to tell a story in a fascinating way. You can visit his site at Red Nose Studios and view his portfolio which is worth checking out!!. And if you know of any other artists that work in 3D and Photography that inspire you, let me know ;)
