Happy Halloween everyone!  I just wanted to remind you that the "Dia de Bloglandia" is this Sunday. Several artists/bloggers will be participating in this event celebrating the Day of the Dead. And for those of you unfamiliar with this tradition there are thousands of sites that explain the "Dia de los Muertos~ here is just one.  I think you'll agree it is a meaningful and colorful event.

One Year Anniversary of my Etsy Shop, Doll Give Away and Art Doll Quarterly!

Latest edition of ADQ ~includes some of my dolls..yay!

In celebration of the opening of my Etsy shop one year ago today I am having a Doll Giveaway as a way of thanking all of you for an amazing year!! I will randomly pick one winner on Sunday November 9th. That person will get to pick one of the 22-23 dolls that will be part of my shop update before they go on sale! The dolls will include the sixteen that I showed in the previous post along with the four below and a few others to come:) I will post images of all the completed dolls by the time the winner is picked. The Shop update will follow two days later on Nov. 12th (if all goes as planned). 

To enter the giveaway just leave a comment here between now and Nov. 10th (at 9am). If you cant leave a message for some reason email me your info and I will include your name:)

And the four dolls above are "still away on business" and hopefully will return in time for the shop update. I sent them off to Southern California back in June because they were invited to be part of the  Winter 2009 edition of Art Doll Quarterly (comes out November 1st)! I am thrilled to have some of my dolls in such an inspiring magazine ~it didnt even occur to me a year ago that I would have my work published in ADQ.  I will post the "unedited" version of my article on my "About Me" page in the next week or so. However if you want to read "my technique" section, you will have to buy the magazine :) I'll mention more about the article in a future post. I'm kind of pressed for time today~off to a lunch date and then mail off packages! See you soon.:)

 

 

One Year Old Today!

Today is my one year blog anniversary! Like everyone who starts a blog, I wondered if anyone would even visit, but my main concern at that time was just getting my dolls ready for the shop. Back then I spent many a night in frustration trying to figure out how this "blog" thing works.  But it's been a fabulous year with lots of opportunities to meet new people and artists of all backgrounds as well as participate in a few blog events and fundraisers. The whole reason I started making dolls again last year had to do with wanting to start a blog of my own after discovering so many wonderful ones two summers ago. At that time I had no idea how much work it would take to keep one going (!) or how far and wide my readers would come from. Thank you for all of your support and kind words...and patience! I'll stop now before the orchestra serenades me off the stage..:)

Sixteen sneak peeks

Since I have been getting daily emails about when the next batch of dolls are arriving I've decided to announce a date well in advance.. I will be having my next shop update Tuesday Nov. 11th. I know, thats three weeks away, but everyday for the next few weeks is booked with some sort of  work, project or activity for me. That's the earliest I can see everything being photographed and ready. 

I'm also waiting for mini canvas' from CA to arrive later this week, more framed Nie prints to make and a blog event to get ready for. I will  be "away" from the studio from Oct. 28-Nov. 5th doing non art related things, and I didn't want to rush getting everything done by Oct 29th. I will be announcing the date and time again later along with images of the dolls!

 Since my 100th post, my blog and Etsy shop anniversaries are all happening this month I will be announcing a doll giveaway that may include one of these dolls And there might be a few more dolls trickling in as well:) Check back on October 27th to celebrate my one year anniversary of my Du Buh Du Designs shop on Etsy!
