Sneak Peeks of Sunday's Shop Update (lots of pics)

As promised here are the six dolls that will be available in my shop this Sunday (at 2pm Pacific time). (I have included all five colored images of each that will be posted in the shop). Awhile back  I was asked if I would ever consider creating dogs for the dolls and I have finally gotten around to doing so. I chose to do my "artistic" version of Whippets and French Bulldogs/Boston Terriers and may make some other breeds at a future date. I would still like to start experimenting with my dolls and haven't had the time to.
 I also wanted to inform you that you will be seeing a gradual increase in the pricing of my dolls. It's something I hate to do, especially with the economy as bad as it is, but I'm spending considerably more time on the dolls faces and accessories and need to compensate for time and craftsmanship,etc.. Thank you for understanding this :) My plan is to create a wider variety of dolls~ some smaller ones (9" and smaller -like my doll ornaments from this past Christmas) and much larger ones like I use to make early on (15"+). A little something for everyone :)

Kinetic Magic

I was reading a blog post this week  about finding heart-stopping magic on the internet. And how wonderful it makes you feel when you come across items that really takes your breath away. Well I found a such a quality in the work of Atlanta artist Tom Haney. His figures , mostly carved out of wood, have such fantastic spirit and character! While they are intriguing as is, they are actually kinetic pieces, wired on the inside , creating a whole other dimension to his work. Tom has a large portfolio of crank operated work, motor driven pieces and figures. If you have the time , please go visit his site as he has video of each art piece in motion. Pure magic~

My father gave me this clock case a few months ago and I knew that I could create a shadow box with it using my dolls.I'm hoping to do so as part of an upcoming project. Finding Tom's work inspired me to get it out of the garage and dust it off..and start thinking of the possibilities :)

Mini Update Next Week!

Hello~ I've decided to change plans a little and have a mini update next Sunday! It will be a small one with six dolls~I had wanted to hold a larger update but I didn't want to prolong that for another month
 ( I've been sick in bed for the past three days so I am further behind in my work). We'll save a larger update for another time : ) In the meantime I'll finish up the dolls this week and will post images up by Saturday (Sunday morning at the latest).

 I often get emails asking when the next update will be so I've decided to set up a mailing list. This will be sent out 5-7 days before an update and will be to notify you of shop updates only. Just send an email to dubuhdudesigns@gmail and type in "shop update list" in the title. That's all you need to do. I'll send you a confirmation email in day or two (check your Spam mail if you haven't received it). I will begin sending out emails starting with the next shop update.
