Hello everyone! First off I wanted to say thank you for your well wishes via emails and comments. Aside from a cold that continues to linger, I feeling much better. I've been pretty busy but have had some alone time in my studio repainting and reorganizing. I've been purging my lot of supplies of what I no longer need (donating most of it) and upgrading supplies, making this space one I actually look forward to working in. The time away has been most beneficial and I expect to get back to my work and blogging soon..I'm actually feeling eager to, so that a good sign!

This weekend  is the second annual auction benefitting the Oaxaca Street Children Grassroots Organization! There are a total of thrity shrines to bid on.The auction begins Saturday April 17th and runs until Saturday April 24th Sunday April 25th at 6 pm Pacific time/ 9pm Eastern time. To bid  or see recent bids/comments you will need to register before signing in ( a name and email is all that is required..you need not include any personal info.)

This site was created to host an annual art auction benefiting Oaxaca Streetchildren Grassroots, a project endeavoring to support the needs of a predominately indigenous population. These children are the ones diligently selling small handmade crafts, roses and dulces on the zocalo for long hours hoping to save enough money to finally attend school. This is a hand-to-mouth culture and the effort of saving up the required cost of uniforms, books, and supplies keeps most from ever achieving this longed-for goal.

 

Oaxacan StreetChildren Grassroots is dedicated to providing a multi layered approach to assist children and their families in skills that insure their own independence and success.One hundred percent of the funds generated in the upcoming auction will go directly to Oaxacan Streetchildren Grassroots.
