~General Doll Description~
These handmade art dolls average about 17.5" in length. The bodice and lining of the skirts are all made from the same antique embroidered cotton silk voile fabric. Their skirts are over-layed with antique cotton tulle and lace. I dyed two of the outfits black and two using Quebracho dye (they appear more coral in these images but are in fact more of a brownish rose, dusty pink color). As with very old fabrics there is some discoloration, and various holes and creases in these delicate materials. I left some of those flaws in each of the dolls outfits as it lends to a 'dolls in the attic' look; using vintage/antique fabrics with a history. I sewed antique/vintage metal sequins (new old stock) onto the skirts and they have underskirts made of Italian nylon tulle.
The dolls hair is made of wispy English viscose and is adorned with a band of Victorian-era, steel bead trim attached to black silk ribbon. All of the flowers in their hair are vintage stock (velvet, ceramic tipped pips/stamens, forget me nots, lily-of-the valley, etc..), including French handmade linen ones taken from antique wedding favors. Their gloves are painted on as are their ballet flats (tiny silk ribbons wrap around their ankles). Each doll has a tiny hook embedded hook into her back in case you wish to display her on the wall or as a framed piece. Please note that the dolls do not stand on their own and must be propped up carefully when sitting. They should displayed away from sunlight.
