Just thought I'd post a couple of pictures of my little studio space..I don't think I've posted proper shots since I first started blogging back in 2007! My modest size space is located in the front of our home and overlooks our front garden. It's approx 5.5' x 12' (1.68 m. x 3.66 m) so it's a bit difficult to get shots of the whole thing. When I first saw the space several years back is was used as a mudroom complete with dirty gray carpet, skis, boots and beer bottles in a recycling bin (obviously the tail end of Mark's bachelor days..ahem). I knew that it could be converted into a sweet little space just given time and a bit of attention. Eventually we'd like to build onto our home~it is our dream to have a two car garage/workshop with studio above. Mark would have a workspace for his modeling and I could use the space above with multiple stations to do my painting sculpting , photography, sewing,etc.. Anyhow that is down the road somewhere in the future..for now here is a little peek at where I create my dolls :)
I recently repainted the walls white and replaced my shiny beautiful boxes with transparent ones. They aren't very attractive but I sort of got fed up having to get up on a stepladder/chair and dig through to find what I needed. Now I can just look up and see where everything is! Mark was kind enough to put up shelving..eventually I'd like to replace the shelves with an armoire with glass doors.
The papel picados look especially wonderful at nighttime..I love them :)
I replaced my wall full of books with all of my fabric. Makes it much easier to grab what I need while I'm working and not have to waste time looking. All fabric is organized according to color and the bins contain my vintage lace, tulle, repurposed cashmere sweaters, silks and other specialty fabrics.
I'm currently working on dolls for the third annual Mad Tea Party blog event hosted by A Fanciful Twist (The link for more info is in the right column). That takes place at the end of the month, so for those interested in dolls that means a shop update will occur soon after.
Oh, and if I'm not back before then it's not because I'm taking another break. The motherboard on my Mac seems to be finally giving out , it types on it's own uncontrollably as a result of spilling some liquid on it a few months back (luckily it gave me a break the past few months and long enough time to write this post). I need to get a new computer in the next week or two and have everything transferred over complete with all of the bells and whistle$..so I may not be online for a bit.
We're hopefully going to get some garden time in this weekend and enjoy some time at Balloons over Bend tomorrow :)
